What are the best vacation places within driving distance of the Bay Area?

My personal favorites:

Nature
Yosemite National Park - California's greatest natural treasure. Book well in advance (6 months) to get the best spots. Fills up ridiculously early for the summer season.


Redwood National Forest. Pretty much any of the parks/forests here make a great camping destination, but for the tallest and most epic trees, look for the old growth redwoods.
